The wonderful world of orchids
You can not believe your eyes in the tropical gardens of the
Orchideeën Hoeve. Some 2,500 species of orchids in various forms of
appearance are displayed standing and hanging in the glass house in
Luttelgeest. The village in the Noordoostpolder gained world wide fame
through the orchids. An ever increasing number of visitors from Holland
and abroad appreciate the 2,5 ha wide attraction.

The Tropical garden.
An astounding wealth of
orchids is growing in the tropical garden with 2500 different species
arranged on treetrunks, alternated with water streams, small bridges and

The Malaysian garden.
A large bridge, water falls, brooks with cage carps, pole houses, growing plants and culture of the inhabitants of small fishermen's villages from Malaysia characterize this grand planned garden. Visit our website for a preview >
The Taiwanese garden.
This oriental garden is
characterized by Bonsai, clipped forms and a permanent exposition of
Ikebana, (oriental flower decoration art) displayed in the houses in the

The Butterfly Valley.
This year the Orchideeën Hoeve has realised a new attraction: a Butterfly Valley spanning 1500 m2. In April 2008 this dazzling valley was opened by the Representative of the Queen in Friesland county: Drs. E. Nijpels. Thousands of butterflies freely roam the valley and across steep rock walls. Many colorful, blossoming plants supply the butterflies with nectar, numerous winding streams provide for their moisture, i.e. a special and renewing garden. Visit our website for a preview >

The Orchideëen Hoeve introduces a brand new initiative: The Butterfly Valley, accessible from March/April 2008. An area of over 1500 m2 is dedicated to the combination of butterflies and orchids. Please visit our website regularly for updates.
The butterfly is a flying orchid, the orchid is a motionless butterfly.
All rooms are heated and under one roof.
